Brief Introduction to Qutang Senior School
   Qutang Senior School, established in 1952, is well known as “West Gate of Education of Nantong District”. Being one of the key provincial high schools, it has inherited profound culture and is spreading modern civilization. Moreover, the quality of teaching and learning here enjoys high prestige from all walks of life. In 2003, Qutang High School has been successfully upgraded to a three-star school in Jiangsu Province. And in 2013, the school has succeeded in becoming one of the four-star schools in Jiangsu Province.
   The campus occupies an area of about 20 hectares with a total building area of about 70,000 square meters. Three five-storey teaching buildings and one six-storey teaching buildings are available to 3,500 students. All classrooms are furnished with projectors , smart boards and air-conditioners and have access to the Internet.The school’s newly-built four-storey library has been available to teachers and students since the beginning of 2011. The library has a collection of books of 130, 000 and electronic books of 400G.
   A four-storey dining building can accommodate 1,800 teachers and students and every day, about 1,400 students have meals in it.
   Four five-storey dormitories are accessible to 1,800 students. And teachers have their flats not far away from the school campus.
　　　A six-storey laboratory provides rooms and equipment for students to do all kinds of experiments. And an expansive sports field ensures that not only do students integrate knowledge and practice, but also develop a healthy body and improve team spirits.
   Besides, the school is to invest 2.5 million RMB to build a modern gym which covers an area of 6,500 square meters and is expected to be completed in the near future.
　　　The school has a dedicated and highly competent team of teaching professionals and hardworking staff who are passionately committed to teaching and learning in the classroom and beyond. Among the 252 teachers, over 160 have obtained their professional titles as senior or intermediate teachers. Based on life-long education, the teachers continuously improve and update their knowledge and skills. Now the principal of the school, Mr. Sun Changqing is pursuing his doctor’s degree and 22 teachers have attained master’s degree. And the rest all have their bachelor's degree. In addition, ten teachers have been sent abroad for further study in recent years.
　　Striving to be at the forefront, Qutang Senior School has a proud record of outstanding achievements in the National College-entrance Examinations. In the last ten years, the school has maintained a reputation for its college-entry rate as one of the top-ranked schools in Jiangsu province. Every year, about 98% of the graduates can gain the opportunity for further education and around 80% are admitted into colleges and universities for bachelor’s degree. In 2007, one of our graduates, Wang Tianyi, achieved the highest score in Jiangsu Province in the National College-entrance Examinations and was admitted to Tsinghua University, the most famous university in China. The success of students in Qutang Senior School reflects not only the commitment of the students themselves but also the commitment of teachers, parents and others who are always guiding, supporting, inspiring and encouraging students to achieve their best.
