在美国中学的讲稿

Good morning, Ladies and gentlemen!

I’ve been looking forward to visiting your great country and I feel honored and pleased that I will stay with you. As you know, this is my very first visit to the USA. And I’m here to witness with my own eyes the magical power of the remote and beautiful country. You can imagine how excited and lucky we were when we received the invitation by the vice president Juanne Z. Bruno from New Jersey City University.

Yesterday, led by Mr. Miao Jianxin, director of our educational delegation, we visited this beautiful university. What impressed us deeply was the beautiful scenery of the campus, the hosts’ hospitality as well as the lovely squirrels running and climbing here and there, which firmly shows the harmonious atmosphere among human beings and the natural surroundings. And there I get to know more about this university. We know this university is recognized for its urban mission as well as its model undergraduate curriculum that combines cooperative education with a firm foundation in the traditional liberal arts. It also offers an array of outstanding master’s programmes in business, education, professional security studies, criminal justice, fire safety, the fine arts, music, health science, nursing and education. And what’s more, I will never forget the mottoes hanging on the light poles along the campus road, such as “I’ll open minds. I’ll advance my dream. I’ll exceed my highest goals. I will be a leader”. In addition, what impressed us most was the visit to a school nearby where some disabled people aged from 3 to 24 are carefully brought up and strategically trained. We are deeply moved by the teachers and nurses who work there.

Ladies and gentlemen: I’m even more excited now that I’ve set my foot on the beautiful land of America. I’ve had my American dream for years and I’m here to realize this dream. We’ll pay a visit to some charming cosmopolitan cities like New York, Washington. D.C, Boston as well as Los Angeles and some world-famous universities like Columbia University, Harvard University and MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology). In all, there is much to learn about in this mysterious country in this shortest possible time: splendid culture, carefully-designed current educational system, glorious history of the Independence of the American Civil War and totally different west food which I’m not accustomed to, though. We are really looking forward to our American life.

Ladies and gentlemen: I remember an old Chinese saying goes: Bosom friends make the distance near. We’ll work with our American colleagues on our educational research, through which I have every reason to believe we’ll realize our “American dream” in the most rewarding direction.

 That’s all. Thank you!
