Petey

Good afternoon, it's my great pleasure to be here and share with you my idea about the story of Petey.

There is nothing new in the plot of the story, but it is told in a different way.

The story begins with a world full of computer programs but no warm emotions. Sophie Nova, the main human character, is a rebellious kind-hearted girl with curiosity. Petey, a lovely robot in Sophie’s home, has a unique speaking intonation. Sam heard Petey made some very strange noises from the other side of the door. It sounds like sneezing. A robot is trying to sneeze. That’s weird, right? But it’s not the weirdest thing. Petey even start to write poems and draw paintings! Though his works were terrible, Sophie and Sam praised him as far as possible. To be more human, Petey started to pay attention to his appearance. Therefore, Sophie and Sam raised Dad’s wardrobe and picked out many new clothes for Petey to try on. This sister and brother couldn’t help laughing at Petey’s daft appearance when he look himself in front of the mirror. But they didn’t ridicule Petey on his face. Petey’s feelings--well, if Petey did have feelings. However, as every story could have a turn in the course, Petey’s abnormality was soon found by Sophie’s mother--the one who is deeply reveled in a high-tech entertainment machine called Ultra-Reality Machine together with Sophie’s father. She called the factory to send out a Corrections Squad van to fix Petey! It was a terrible bad news because if Petey had been fixed,he wound turned back to a heartless machine without any thought. The two children certainly won’t let this happen. In order not to let Petey’s thought be ripped away, Sam overcome his fear of the jet-pack and together with Sophie, acted an exciting midair circuitous battle against the Correction Squad flying van. Finally, Petey went and saved Sam without thinking of his own safety. And that just made Sophie’s parents aware of their neglect to their two children before. Dad pulled the Ultra-Reality Machine plug out of the wall and determined away from it for a period of time. Mum started to ask if Sam,Sophie ,including Petey wanna have an ice-cream. When I reached that point, I known that everything was going to be all right.

Let’s have a look at today’s society. Many youngsters become ‘Bow gens’, always holding an ipadSamsungiphone,or something. It is said that nowadays the longest distance in the world is that when I am sitting in front of you, all you can see is the mobile phone in your hand. Technological development provides us with better form of communication but colder human relationship. The story of Petey reminds me of the love that will never be replaced or destroyed by modern technology. That’s the most important thing that Petey tells me. That’s all for my speech. Thank for your listening.
